Most of the doctors declare that all of us should eat low fat raw vegetables in order to flourish on a raw food diet. And on the other side there are many other raw foodists who declare that a person can easily live on fruit alone and can be healthy. Before we get the answer of this question that do raw foodists really need greens to be healthy, we should shed some light on what greens can offer to a raw food diet.

Greens the term refers to all the lovely tender, mild vegetables and leafy out there which includes mint, oregano, cilantro, cabbage, parsley, basil, spinach, red lettuce etc. Mild herbs and tender green varieties are also included such as sauropus and beet greens. However, many of the raw foodists surely enjoy these ingredients which do not cause any digestive troubles when it is consumed and blended with sweet fruits.

Chlorophyll is the green pigment found in photosynthetic organisms, responsible for the green coloring in plants and photosynthesis. This is the processing of the energy from the sun to be used in the plant. But can this beneficial to the human body? Yes it can and it is.

Chlorophyll has lots of magnesium and therefore helps in the movements of essential minerals through the bloodstream. It also aids in the supply of oxygen to the blood cells. When tissues are infected or injured, chlorophyll helps in repairing them thus inducing faster healing.

Other benefits are that it aids in the purification of the blood and the liver naturally and when used with other components can treat certain forms of cancers. To enjoy chlorophyll nutrition, lots of green vegetables are very essential. When taken raw the better because cooking them reduces the levels of chlorophyll in them.
