To correct it for once and for all, not all sugar is bad for you. It is the refined white sugar that is the culprit behind earning a bad name for sugar. Over consumption of refined sugars may cause type 2 diabetes, brain inflammation, tryptophan depletion, slow thyroid function, testosterone depletion in men and even insulin resistance and dementia in extreme cases.

Starting from the basics, all sugar is carbohydrates. High consumption of processed sugar also triggers appetite thus leading to overeating that is widely responsible for the obesity epidemic that has spread in all parts of the world. However, there is no need to totally eliminate sugar from your diet. As long as you have sugar in moderation, there would be no ill-effects of the same.

The prostate glands are affected by three major diseases: prostatitis, BPH {enlarged prostate,} and the more dangerous prostate cancer. To avoid or deal with these conditions, you need to be very careful with your diet and need to understand the best foods to fight or guard against them.

In dealing with prostatitis, it is advisable to have a healthy intake of Vitamin C and foods with the mineral zinc. These reduce greatly the chances of re-infection. For the enlarged prostate, zinc and Vitamin C are a panacea because a serious lack of either can lead to enlargement. Additionally, lycopene extracts slow the growth of the infection.

For prostate cancer the nutritional diet advised is lots of Vitamin D, lycopene and soy products. A lot of zinc being secreted during semen emissions means men stand a high risk of prostate infection and thus this loss of zinc should be adequately addressed by taking the above-mentioned foods.

With some biological changes happening in the body, a healthy nutritious diet is highly beneficial to teenagers. In every meal intake, proteins, carbohydrates, fats and vitamins should be present in adequate measure.

Protein foods like meats, beans, nuts, soy products and eggs are essential for the growth of vital body organs. Carbohydrates and vitamins on the other hand are energy-giving to the body and are vital in stabilizing the nervous system and muscles, as well as repairing body tissues and fighting diseases. In this

category, teenagers should take lots of fruits, vegetables, beans and fortified grains.

Teenagers are in constant move and fats act as energy reserves and also as body insulators and transport some vitamins through the body. When the teenager does not have adequate levels of energy-food intake, the fats are burned up and used as such.
