Hawthorn berry had been used abundantly in Europe during medieval times. Its main aim was to fight against urinary issues and specifically kidney stones. It was also used as an able diuretic. Today, we know that Hawthorne can be a great guide in fighting heart problems as it tightens the walls of arteries. It’s known to boost the pumping capacity of heart which means it can take care of diastolic blood pressure. It can even take care of arrhythmia or irregular heart beat. Perhaps its strongest identity is revealed when it fights early stage cardiac failure or weakness of myocardium.
Hawthorne berry can be taken as a tonic to dilate or expand the coronary walls. This reduces pressure of blood flow and thus the lateral pressure on artery is lowered. Most essential ingredient of the berry is trapped inside 1/1000th part of the plant fiber. This needs to be tapped very well for optimum usage.
