Liver Problems
by Nutrition Man ~ December 21st, 2008. Filed under: Body Care, Liver issues.
The liver is one of the most important organs of the human body. The liver is located in the upper right quadrant of the human abdomen. The liver performs the following functions:-
- Filters the blood
- It makes bile which is a substance that helps digest fat as well as excrete certain fatty substances.
- It processes fats to carriers and at the same time stores sugars. This way it helps the body transports well as save energy.
- Helps in breaking down as well as recycle red blood cells
- Stores iron, copper along with vitamins A and D, not to mention a large number of the B vitamins
In case the liver becomes infected, quite naturally all its abilities to properly perform all its functions might be impaired. Thus liver diseases should be treated with utmost seriousness. The commonest cause of liver damage is malnutrition and more specifically the one which occurs with alcoholism.
