Nutrition facts of tomatoes

The round red vegetable is a favorite of many health-conscious freaks. Tomato serves to bring a wide variety of flavors to your platter. According to a research based on about 72 studies, it has been found out that there is a lower possibility of suffering from different kinds of cancer if you regularly consume tomatoes or any products based on tomatoes.
The red color of tomatoes is due to the presence of lycopene. This is the chemical that helps reduce the chances of lung, prostate or stomach cancers. Processed tomatoes contain a higher percentage of lycopene. It is also recommended to eat tomatoes with some amount of fat as that helps in the better absorption of lycopene.
Tomatoes are also rich in Vitamin C content. They also contain rich sources of Vitamin A. Though it has not been supported by research, tomatoes that also contain glycoalkaloids are believed to make a small contribution to arthristis symptoms. But tomato diet has believed to bring about a significant reduction in cell damage.
