The underlying causes of obsession

Obsession is a psychological imbalance, when you are preoccupied with something unnaturally and cannot stay away from its thoughts or that particular thing itself. The thought or thing can be pleasantly desired or undesired also. This disorder is mixed with anxiety, fear, tension, confusion. There are many causes of it. The main causes of obsession are as follows:

  • Stress: this is the root cause for most of the psychological problems. It worsens and exaggerates the problems and fears of the patients. It could be stress due to anything that might have happened in that person’s life.
  • Brain dysfunction: sometimes obsession develops after some brain abnormality like some trauma.
  • Fear: fear about anything in life could be the reason of obsession.
  • Genetics: it could be genetic and has been passed on through generations.
  • Brain chemicals: any imbalance in the chemical of brains due to any reason can be the cause of obsession.
